Atletico Madrid have made a dramatic turn in their stance over the future of Thomas Partey. Spanish radio show Cadena COPE have reported that the club is willing to cash in for the 27-year-old Ghanaian midfielder in order to raise cash in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Partey has a €50 million release clause in his contract and has been long linked with a move to the Premier League and could now be on the move for an even lower fee. The Spanish club’s board would like to raise funds and see Partey as their most sellable asset in the squad, while they have enough midfielders in their squad.
Arsenal have been admirers of the defensive midfielder for a while now and could step in to sign Partey for a bargain price under his release clause. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a move for Partey, but are both believed to be focusing on other targets first.
