Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hit out at his club’s board, claiming they are to blame of his current contract situation. The Gabon international has one year left on his current contract, meaning he will be free to talk to other clubs if his contract isn’t renewed before the end of the year.
Talks between Aubameyang and Arsenal have been ongoing, but a deal has not been reached. Fans of the club fear that their top striker will be sold during the summer window to avoid him leaving the club on a free transfer. The forward, meanwhile, says that there has been little progress towards signing a new contract and has blamed the club for the lack of progress.
“I have not received a proposal recently, but we have had discussions with the club for quite a few months,” he told TF1’s Telefoot program. “The board know very well why nothing has happened so far. They have the key. It’s up to them to do their job and then we’ll see how it goes.”
“It’s a turning point in my career and, to be frank with everyone, this will be a very difficult decision to make. But beware, I haven’t made my choice yet. It will be perhaps the most important decision of my career.” Aubameyang joined Arsenal in 2018 from Borussia Dortmund and since joining he has scored 49 goals in 75 Premier League appearances.
