FC Barcelona boss Quique Setien has expressed his worries on Frenkie de Jong after the midfielder has suffered an injury. The Dutch midfielder was forced to leave the pitch and being substituted by Junior Firpo after 84 minutes in Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Real Mallorca.
After the game Setien stated that De Jong asked for a substitution after he felt something. The 23-year-old will undergo several medical tests in the coming days, with an update expected on Tuesday. It could be possible that De Jong could be left out of Barcelona’s next matchday squad as a busy schedule awaits.
The 4-0 win over Mallorca on Saturday will be followed by a home game against relegation battling Leganes on June 16. Only three days later Barcelona will have a trip to Sevilla. The Blaugranas currently hold a two point lead in La Liga over rivals Real Madrid, who beat Eibar 3-1 on Sunday.
