Justin Kluivert should remain a player at AS Roma, insists his manager Paulo Fonseca. The Dutch winger has been linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks and the Dutchman could be used in a player plus cash deal to bring him to London. Fonseca hopes the Italian club does not sell Kluivert.
The 19-year-old winger is the son of former Ajax and Netherlands legend Patrick Kluivert. Fonseca was asked to compare the two. “They’re different,” he said. “His father was a great player, a great striker. Justin has what it takes to be as good as him. He’s one of the young players that Roma are counting on for the future.”
In recent weeks Kluivert was linked to a swap deal with Arsenal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian is currently on loan at the Romans, scoring six goals in 17 appearances. Arsenal are hoping to include Mkhitaryan into the deal to drop Roma’s asking price for Kluivert. It is believed the winger is valued at around €40 million by the Serie A giants.
