FC Barcelona need to raise a sum of €70m to break-even their budget according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet Sport. The Catalan giants hope to raise the cash by selling both Clair Todibo and Philippe Coutinho but the report warns they will not be sold for a bargain price.
It is expected that Barcelona will raise around €20m for Todibo, who is currently on loan at Schalke 04. The biggest challenge for the club is to complete a big money move for Coutinho, whose loan spell at Bayern Munich will come to an end at the end of July. The Brazilian has attracted the interest of several clubs in the Premier League.
Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian is ready to meet with Barcelona and is aware that Newcastle United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested. Barcelona are holding on to a €90m asking price for Coutinho, but could agree to accept a €70m plus a player deal for the attacking midfielder.
With Barcelona needing funds to break-even their budget for next season, any moves for players will have to be put on hold, including their hunt for Internazionale striker Lautaro Martinez. The Argentinian forward has been topping Barcelona’s list for next season, but the Spanish club is aware that Internazionale are demanding a big transfer fee.
