Bayern Munich have made an official approach to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City. According to German journalist Christian Falk, the German giants have made an offer worth around €40 million for Sane, whose contract will run out in 2021.
City confirmed earlier that Sane has turned down the chance to extend his contract beyond next season. The former Schalke 04 player is reportedly keen on returning to the Bundesliga and according to Falk he is desperate to join Bayern Munich next season to fight for the title and Champions League.
The ball is now in Manchester City’s court as the 2019 Premier League champions will have to decide whether to cash in now or risk the chance of letting Sane leave on a free transfer once his contract runs out in June 2021. Losing Sane to Bayern for a cut-price will be a blow for City as the club rejected bids around €100 million for the winger last summer.
