Manchester City remain confident of a positive outcome from their CAS appeal against their two-year ban from European competitions by the UEFA, says Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez. Earlier this month there was a three-day session at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
According to the journalist, the feeling amongst the Manchester City board is positive. The club believes that the UEFA have taken a ‘very positive’ view and subsequently could ‘contemplate a suspension/postponement’ of their current sanction. City were banned from Europe after the club was found guilty of breaking cost-control rules.
It is now widely expected that the decision, findings and overall outcome of the appeal will be made official some time in July. Several players, including star midfielder Kevin de Bruyne, have questioned their future at Man City if the UEFA’s decision to ban the club from European football for two season will stand.
