Hakan Calhanoglu could leave AC Milan this summer, says his agent. The Turkish creative midfielder is currently happy at the former Italian giants, but his agent also admits that Calhanoglu wants to play for a club in the Champions League. AC Milan are currently in 7th place in the Serie A and qualification for the Champions League seems unlikely.
Calhanoglu has been in good form for Milan since the return out of the country’s lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Hakan worked in an excellent way during the lockdown,” agent Gordon Stipic told Tuttomercatoweb. “He showed himself to be a real professional, with personal ambition suited to an important club. I am not surprised, as this is just a small part of what we’ll see.”
“Calhanoglu is a player capable of working in different tactical positions, but he is particularly suited to this system playing behind the striker. He already played there in Germany, can read the game well and is flexible. Yesterday’s performance, in my view, reflects all his hunger and ambition.”
“Everyone knows his contract expires in 2021 and that everything is just starting back up again now. I haven’t spoken to Milan yet, but Hakan and I have big ambitions. His objective is to play in the Champions League, I won’t deny that, and it’s one of the reasons why he is so fired up.”
Instead of fighting for a spot in the Champions League, Milan are competing for a ticket for the Europa League. “I don’t know what will happen at the end of the season. We have our ambitions, which are to play in the Champions League, clearly”, Stipic said. “Hakan is happy at Milan and proud to wear the Number 10 jersey at such a glorious club. However, obviously, there are also individual ambitions to be considered.”
