Henderson demands give Manchester United huge goalkeeper headache

After a stunning season at Sheffield United, Manchester United are keen on rewarding Dean Henderson with a new bumper deal at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old has already been rewarded with two new contracts after impressive loan spells at Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Henderson’s future at United has become uncertain as the goalkeeper has reportedly demanded the number one spot in goal before signing a new deal. Reports claim that Henderson has multiple options in the Premier League and is considering his options before agreeing to a new deal.

David de Gea‘s position has weakened over the past few months, with several errors leading to opposition goals. Last week the Spaniard made a huge error, allowing Steven Bergwijn to open the scoring in Friday’s 1-1 draw away against Tottenham. However, the 28-year-old recently signed a new contract at United and it is not expected that the club will sell him any time soon.

Therefore manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will face a huge headache of whether to promote the young and rising star Henderson or pick the experienced and loyal De Gea for next season. United would want to avoid to sell a young and talented goalkeeper with the potential to be the number one for the next decade, but the club also wants to remain loyal to De Gea’s efforts his nine-year United career.
