Leicester City are closing in on a deal for Real Betis midfielder William Carvalho, as per Radio Marca. While The Foxes have reached an agreement with the Portugal international, they are yet agree terms with Betis. But, with Betis missing out on European football for next season, it is expected that a deal could be on the cards soon.
Betis signed the midfielder in 2018 in a €20m deal from Sporting Portugal at it is believed that the Spanish club wants to receive a transfer fee in the range of €40m for Carvahlo. The 27-year-old is one of Betis’ key performers and it will require a hefty fee to convince them to agree to let him go for next season.
That fee does not look like it will be a problem for Leicester City. Brendan Rodgers’ side is currently in the race for a spot in next season’s Champions League and that will be a big boost for the club’s budgets. Since his transfer from Sporting, Carvalho has made 52 first-team appearances for Betis.
