Arsenal are actively searching the transfer market to sign an immediate but short-term replacement for Bernd Leno. The German goalkeeper suffered a what appeared serious knee injury in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss away at Brighton Hove & Albion. According to reports Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has contacted his former club Manchester City.
The Spaniard has high hopes that his former employer will help the Gunners and accept a short-term loan for Claudio Bravo. The Chilean goalkeeper is the second choice at the Etihad Stadium behind Ederson, but it is unclear if Pep Guardiola is willing to allow Bravo move to London for the final part of the season.
Another option will still be Joe Hart. The former Manchester City goalkeeper will be available on a free transfer next week following his expiring contract at Burnley. Emiliano Martinez is set to replace Leno this week when Arsenal will face Southampton, but is has been claimed that Arteta does not have much confidence in the reserve goaltender and would like to make a signing instead.
