Eduardo Camavinga will remain at Stade Rennes next season despite interest from Real Madrid, claims the club president Nicolas Holveck. The young French midfielder has been tipped as one of the stars of the future and Madrid were keen on securing Camavinga this summer in a deal potentially worth €40m.
“We have agreed with him that he will stay with us next season”, Rennes’ president told reporters, as cited by Marca. “He is a smart player and he knows where his sporting interest is currently. Despite that, we have not received any offer for his transfer.” Next to Real Madrid, the midfielder has attracted interest from several clubs from the Premier League, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga.
Despite Holveck’s comments, it could still be possible for Real Madrid to complete a deal for Camavinga this summer. The Spaniards could decide to secure the midfielder’s signature, but allowing him to stay on a full season long loan at Rennes next season. Camavinga has made 36 appearances for Rennes this season.
