FC Barcelona will make Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang their top summer target if a move for Internazionale striker Lautaro Martinez fails. The Spanish giants have been looking at the Argentinian for months, but fail to meet Inter’s demands. As an alternative Barcelona have now marked Aubameyang as a cheaper alternative.
Due to the coronacrisis Barcelona are having financial troubles and the Spanish club is not able to spend a large transfer fee this summer. But the club is keen on landing a new forward as a long term replacement for 32-year-old star striker Luis Suarez.
Aubameyang could prove to be a bargain buy this summer. The forward’s contract at Arsenal will expire next summer and up until now he has not reached an agreement to extend his deal. The Gunners would like to avoid their star forward to leave the club on a free transfer in 2021 and could opt to sell if contract negotiations fail.
The Gabon international would be open to a move to Barcelona after he admitted he has the ambition to win trophies during the final stages of his career and he would find it hard to reject a big money offer from Barcelona, should they decide to make an approach during the summer window.
