Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho is closing in on a move to Olympique Lyon, according to French sources. The 30-year old only has one year left on his contract and can sign a three year contract at the Ligue 1 club. The fee is rumoured to be around €5 million.
After having spent half a season on loan from Liverpool in early 2017, the French defender made the permanent move to Palace for €25 million in August later that year. He had a solid start for the The Eagles, but has struggled this season due to injuries, playing only eight games so far.
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas gave positive comments about Mamadou Sakho, saying he likes the defender mainly because he has the right personality. Though, Aulas quickly added that he doesn’t know if the transfer was close and that it was up to Brazilian director of football Juninho Pernambucano.
