Manchester United will face Sheffield United on Wednesday and this could be the first game where midfield stars Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes will start together for the first time. Pogba had to settle for a spot on the bench for United’s first game back against Tottenham but enjoyed an impressive cameo, winning the penalty that Fernandes converted to seal a 1-1 draw in north London.
According to the Daily Mail, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been impressed with Pogba’s work ethic and improvement during training since he recovered from an ankle injury. The French midfielder did not play a single game for United since Boxing Day due to the ankle injury which has tormented him throughout the entire season, limiting his playing time to just nine games over all competitions.
But since he has returned to training, Pogba has been slowly improving his fitness and it is now believed Solskjaer has been given the green light to start the France international for the first time since September 30, 2019. That also means that one of the other midfielders – Fred, Scott McTominay or Fernandes – will drop to the bench. United fans are hoping that Pogba will be allowed a spot aside Fernandes to see how their two star players will match up on the field.
