Willian has agreed to remain a Chelsea player for the remainder of the season. The Brazilian winger is set to leave the Blues on a free transfer after spending seven years at Stamford Bridge following his transfer from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala in a deal worth €35.5m.
While Frank Lampard’s side will be boosted with the extended stay of Willian, it remains unclear if the Brazilian will also stay on for Chelsea’s remaining game in the Champions League round of 16 against Bayern Munich. The European tournament is set to restart in August, but the Premier League will end in July.
Chelsea have expressed their desire to keep Willian on board next season, but do not want to meet the Brazilian’s demand and offer a new three-year deal. Chelsea only want to offer a one-year extension with the possibility to add another season after each term ends. Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Willian, who could be staying in London if he decides to sign for one of these clubs.
