Rumours of Ansu Fati leaving FC Barcelona to join Manchester United have been dismissed by his father Bori. The young winger has enjoyed his breakout season at the Spanish giants, making his debut at the age of 17 and appearing in 26 games already. Reports claimed that Fati was a summer target for Manchester United, but his father said there has not been any contact.
“Ansu can’t be a starter at Barca right now”, Bori Fati told Cadena Ser. “I’ve always been happy since my son is at Barca … I know nothing about Manchester United. Ansu and I are comfortable here in Barcelona. Everyone that leaves Barca then wants to come back.” Fati was praised by Barcelona boss Quique Setien on Tuesday following his part in Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Sevilla.
Fati’s father also claims that he is happy to play alongside his biggest idol in football: Lionel Messi. The young winger has followed the path of the legendary Argentinian by also coming through the clubs infamous La Masia academy. “Messi is the father of all footballers there”, he added. “If you are alongside Messi, you have to be delighted and thank God.”
