Arsenal have reconsidered their massive €275.000-a-week contract offer to Willian, Metro reports. The 31-year-old Brazilian will stay with Chelsea until the end of the season after agreeing a short-term contract extension, but it is expected that he will leave the Blues on a free transfer after failing to agree a new long-term deal.
Chelsea hoped Willian would remain at Stamford Bridge, but their two-year extension was rejected by the winger, who wanted a three-year contract. Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with Willian, with the Gunners already offering a big money contract.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal made an offer worth a whopping €275.000-a-week before the coronavirus outbreak. But the report now claims that the Gunners are reconsidering their offer and could potentially reduce their original offer following the financial impact of the pandemic. Should Arsenal keep their original offer for Willian, the forward could become the second-highest paid player behind Mesut Ozil, who earns €375.000-a-week.
