Timo Werner will be moving to the Premier League next season and that move will benefit the forward financially on many levels. German outlet Bild has published some details of Werner’s contract at Stamford Bridge on Thursday and that shows that Werner will be doubling his salary in London.
The English media suggested earlier that Werner would be earning around €10m per season. But, according to Bild Werner will be on the payroll for at least €15.5m per year, which is almost twice as much as at RB Leipzig. In addition, Werner will receive a signing bonus of €11m and through bonuses Werner could earn up to €88.5m over the next five years.
“I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club”, Werner told the official Chelsea website last week. “I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart. I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us.”
Werner is the second big money transfer for Chelsea for next season after the club already confirmed the signing of Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech back in February for a reported fee of €40m which could rise up to €44m through a series of bonuses. It is believed that Frank Lampard’s side are also trying to sign Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen and Leicester City full-back Ben Chilwell.
