Juventus and FC Barcelona have agreed the main terms for an incredible swap deal. According to Goal.com the two giants have agreed to swap midfielders Arthur Melo and Miralem Pjanic. It will now be up to the players to make a final decision on the swap deal.
Arthur proved to be the biggest problem for the stunning player swap. The Brazilian joined Barcelona in 2018 as the successor of Andres Iniesta, but the new number 8 never managed to impress the coaches. Whilst Arthur dismissed interest from Juventus earlier this year, the midfielder has had a change of heart in the past few days.
Goal suggests that comments made by Barcelona boss Quique Setien have had a massive impact on Arthur’s decision to listen to the offer Juventus are willing to make. Setien openly talked about a possible Serie A move for Arthur and he refused to confirm that the midfielder would still be a Barcelona player next season.
The counter part in this player swap – Pjanic – has already agreed terms with Barcelona and is very keen on leaving Juventus after a difficult season and relationship with coach Maurizio Sarri. The Bosnian midfielder has lost his position as a first team regular under the former Napoli and Chelsea boss, expressing his frustration on more than one occasion.
