Liverpool have finally won their very first Premier League title as the Reds ended their 30-year wait for a 19th top-flight title after Manchester City‘s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea on Thursday night. Jurgen Klopp and his team have sealed their title with seven games to go in the Premier League.
It has been a stunning season for Liverpool thus far as the Reds have only seen defeat in one game, away at Watford (3-0). They currently have a 22-point lead over number two Manchester City and became the champions after the Citizens lost 2-1 away at Chelsea following Liverpools 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
After their stunning campaign in the 2019 Champions League, Liverpool have won their 19th league title in the club’s history and their first Premier League since the competition started in 1992. The club now stand just one league title behind Manchester United‘s record-breaking haul of 20 top-flight titles.
Despite Klopp’s side winning the title, there is still plenty to play for until the end of the season. Liverpool can go in search of a bunch of league records, including including the most ever wins and points in a Premier League season, as well as the record number of points in an English league campaign.
