The board of Valencia have rejected the resignation of Albert Celades on Thursday. The Spanish side has been having a terrible season in La Liga and Celades offered his resignation to the board after his side lost against Eibar (1-0). According to journalist Julio Insa, Celades wants to leave the club, while the players hope their manager will be sacked.
The reports of Celades wanting to resign have emerged after it was believed he had a fall-out with striker Maxi Gomez. Despite banning the Uruguayan striker from his squad for the game with Eibar, Celades has faced stiff opposition from his squad, who are now against the manager and have asked the board for a change.
Valencia are going through a rough period with just two wins from their last twelve games in La Liga. After Los Che lost 1-0 against Eibar, the team are currently in eighth in La Liga and seven points off fourth-placed Sevilla. It is feared that Valencia will lose the fight for a spot in the Champions League and could even miss out on the Europa League if their form will not improve soon.
