Olympique Marseille attacker Dimitri Payet has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension. The current deal of the in Réunion born player was set to run out in the summer of 2022, so now the French international will be under contract untill 2024 with L’OM.
After refusing to cut his salary due to the coronavirus crisis earlier this year, Payet now has accepted to lower his salary by 50% for the 20/21 season and 30% for the 21/22 season. Mainly due to his love for the club as the Frenchman was quoted saying: “It’s good to love the club, it’s better to prove it.”
The 33-year old left Marseille for Premier League side West Ham United in 2015 for a fee of €15 million.Hhe returned to the French team for nearly €30 million in early 2017, having only spend one and a half season in London. This season he featured in 22 Ligue 1 games, scoring nine and assisting four goals.
