Today Anthony Musaba’s team N.E.C. have confirmed his transfer to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco. The 19-year old attacker will sign a five-year deal with the French team for a reported fee of €2.5 million. N.E.C. have included a sell-on clause in the deal. Musaba only had one year left on his current contract.
Musaba broke through this season for the green and reds, after joining them a couple of years ago from rivalling team Vitesse. With 7 goals in 25 appearances this season, the Dutchman impressed most top teams in Europe, including Borussia Dortmund, Olympique Marseille and Valencia. Despite already getting a tour at Dortmund’s stadium, Musaba preferred a move to Les Monégasques.
Wilco van Schaik, director at N.E.C., spoke proudly of the academy on the team’s website; “We at N.E.C. are extremly proud that our academy is able to produce talents for the top teams in Europe. This transfer confirms we’ve taken the right path in our policy. This is a compliment for everybody that works hard every day for years, so these million euro transfers can take place.“
