FC Barcelona are still actively looking to offload Philippe Coutinho this summer. The Spanish giants still haven’t given up on signing Lautaro Martinez from Internazionale, but have to generate funds to sign the Argentinian striker. Meanwhile, Coutinho’s agent has been made aware of Barcelona’s plans and has been actively looking for a new club for his client.
That new club could be Arsenal, claims The Mirror. Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian has been in contact with technical director Edu about a possible deal for the Brazilian midfielder. Arsenal would love to sign a player of Coutinho’s stature, but are currently unable to sign him if he becomes available.
Coutinho’s agent could ask for a weekly €350.000 per-week, but this would mean that big earner Mesut Ozil should be sold first. The chances of the German leaving Arsenal are very slim. The midfielder is the highest paid player at the club, collecting €350.000 per-week. It seems unlikely that another club would be prepared to match this offer for the under performing Arsenal star.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are actively looking to strengthen their squad for next season, but are mainly focusing on free transfers. Chelsea‘s Willian and Tottenham Hotspur‘s Jan Vertonghen are names that have been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks, but it is believed that there have not been any offers.
