Arthur Melo has arrived in Turin ahead of his medical at Juventus. The Brazilian midfielder flew out to Italy on Saturday night, shortly after he saw FC Barcelona draw 2-2 Celta de Vigo. Several videos were posted on Twitter, showing that Arthur and his entourage arrived on an airport neer Turin. It is expected he will undergo his medical on Sunday.
Arthur is set to join Juventus with midfielder Miralem Pjanic making the opposite move to FC Barcelona. At this point it is unclear of the Bosnian international will also undergo a medical on Sunday at Barcelona due to the travel restrictions for the coronavirus pandemic. Pjanic played the full 90 minutes on Friday as the Bianconeri beat Lecce 4-0.
The ‘player swap’ is not a straight exchange as Juventus will receive Barcelona €70m for Arthur, while Juventus will add €60m to their balance for Pjanic. Both clubs are also in a hurry to complete the transfers as the financial year for the clubs will end on June 30th. Reports claim that they both need a big player sale to comply to the rules of UEFA’s Financial Fairplay.
