Arthur Melo‘s mother has hit back on social media at comments from FC Barcelona boss Quique Setien about the midfielder in Friday’s press conference. The Brazilian midfielder is set to complete his transfer to Juventus on Sunday after he arrived in Italy on Saturday evening. Melo will undergo a medical and is expected to sign a multi-year deal with the Bianconeri.
On Friday Setien stated: “Arthur is neither the first player nor the last to sign for a club with high expectations that do not bear fruit,” Setien told reporters, as cited by Cope. “Maybe he lacked a bit of continuity. It is not easy to change things that other coaches have told him were good, like holding the ball when we want to play two touches.”
These comments were seen by Melo’s mother, who made an instant reply: “My God, now they will start finding flaws with the player.” Melo stated earlier he did not want to leave FC Barcelona after two seasons. However, after speaking with officials of both Juventus and Barcelona, the midfielder changed his mind. He is now set to sign a multi-year deal in Italy worth around €5.5m-a-year.
