Chelsea have identified Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana as the ideal replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga if Valencia push trough their interest for the goalkeeper. The Spanish club is currently overthinking a two year loan for Kepa with an obligated buy clause and could be putting the offer in as soon as the season in Spain has come to an end.
Kepa became the most expensive goalkeeper in the world two summers ago, but the 25-year-old has been struggling to live up to his €85m price tag ever since he joined the London club. While Frank Lampard has made Kepa his starting goalkeeper this season, rumours have emerged the coach has requested for a new goalkeeper.
The Mirror now suggests that Chelsea would accept Valencia’s proposal to loan Kepa for two seasons, but only if the Spanish club will pay a substantial loan fee, while Valencia should pay the majority – if not all – of Kepa’s wages. This is thought to be around €175.000 per week, with the goalkeeper to be one of the top earners at the club.
That new keeper could be Cameroonian international Andre Onana. The Ajax youngster is considered to be one of the best young goalkeepers in the world and the former FC Barcelona academy player would be open to join his Ajax team mate Hakim Ziyech at Stamford Bridge next season. It is believed that Ajax want at least €40m for Onana.
