Manchester United have made signing Jadon Sancho their biggest priority of the summer transfer market. To raise funds to sign the Borussia Dortmund winger, United will have to sell at least four players, according to The Mirror. The Germans demand at least €100m for Sancho, which is a hefty fee in football’s troubled financial times.
The report claims that Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling will all be moved on once the season is over to facilitate the move of Sancho. United fans would welcome Sanchez leaving the club as the Chilean is considered to be one of the worst signings the club has ever made and his massive salary (€450.000-a-week) is a huge burden on the wage budget.
Lingard and Jones have been part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans for this season, but have both failed to impress and could be out on their way this summer. Meanwhile, Smalling has been on loan at AS Roma this season and the Italians are looking to sign the centre-back on a permanent deal. Andreas Pereira could be the fifth name on the list. While the Brazilian has featured in many games this season, United may want to use the interest from several Spanish clubs to generate more funds.
