Pep Guardiola has refused to comment on his future at Manchester City beyond 2021. The Spanish boss has one year left on his current contract and looking ahead to their FA Cup fixture with Newcastle United, Guardiola told reporters he only cares about finishing the current season with a trophy. City lost their status as English champions on Thursday after Liverpool secured the title.
Despite losing the title in the Premier League to Liverpool, Guardiola is now fully committed to win the FA Cup. “I’m incredibly excited for this part of the season, and the next one,” Guardiola told reporters ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Newcastle United. “I am incredibly satisfied to be in this club and to try to do our best. But I don’t want to think too far ahead. Now is not the time. I just think about today.”
“I want the players to recover because the last 15-20 minutes were so demanding 10 against 11. We have a tough game against Newcastle and that’s what I have to be focused on.” With 7 games to play in the Premier League, Manchester City are ready to secure their second position in the Premier League ahead of Leicester City, who are 8 points behind.
