Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is hopeful Christian Pulisic will not be kept out of action for too long after he was forced off the pitch in Sunday’s 1-0 win at Leicester City. The USA international was taken off and replaced by Ruben Loftus-Cheek midway through the second half of the FA Cup quarter-final tie.
After the game Lampard confirmed the midfielder has a calf injury. “Christian felt a tightness in his calf in the second drinks break, hopefully nothing that keeps him out,” he told reporters. At this point it is unclear if Pulisic will be fit in time to face West Ham in Chelsea mid-week Premier League program.
Losing Pulisic could be a blow for Chelsea in their fight for third place in the Premier League. The former Borussia Dortmund star has been decisive for the Blues since the Premier League’s return this month, scoring in Chelsea’s wins over Aston Villa and Manchester City (both 2-1) last week.
