Dortmund CEO doubts clubs can afford in-demand Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund‘s chief executive Hans-Joachmin Watzke has admitted that the club are prepared to sell the England international this summer, but also has doubts anyone could match their transfer demands. Manchester United are heavily interested in the former Manchester City youth player.

Watzke was quoted by various German media: “If Jadon approaches us and says he wants to leave no matter what – which has not happened so far – and a club wants to spend what we are asking for, we will discuss it. But I don’t think a club will pay the fee we want.” The 20-year-old Sancho has registered a combined 17 goals and assists for Dortmund this season.

It is believed that Dortmund will be demanding at least €125m for Sancho, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks. But due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic a 100m+ offer from the Premier League giants seems highly unlikely. For that reason United has already been looking at possible alternatives for Sancho.
