FC Barcelona have confirmed that Arthur Melo will be transferred to Juventus this summer. The Spanish giants have released an official statement confirming the Brazilian midfielder will join the Bianconeri in a deal worth €72m, which could become €82m through a series of bonuses.
At first Melo wasn’t keen on joining Juventus. He made a clear statement about his Barcelona future. In the last week Arthur made a big U-turn which has paved the way for the deal to be completed. Reports have claimed that Juventus doubling Arthur’s yearly wages is one of the main reasons for the midfielder to have accepted the transfer.
Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic is set to move in the other direction. A confirmation of that deal is expected later on the day or on Tuesday. Barcelona will pay around €60m for the former AS Roma playmaker. Both players will finish the 2019/2020 season with their current clubs.
