Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini have officially extended their Juventus contracts to June 2021. The club announces on their website that the iconic Juve players have put pen to paper under their new one-year deals. Both contracts would have expired on Wednesday, though an extension was never in doubt.
Chiellini will be 36 in August and he intends to play for at least one more season at Juventus. The central defender has been with Juventus since 2005, playing a massive 509 official games for club and scoring 36 goals. This season Chiellini has suffered a knee injury, which has kept him from playing.
Buffon joined Juventus in 2001 in a big money move from Parma. The legendary Italian goalkeeper has played 669 games for Juventus. Buffon left Juventus in the summer of 2018 to join Paris Saint-Germain, but already returned to Turin a season later. He currently is Juventus’ second choice in goal behind Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny.
