Arsenal are actively looking to bolster their attacking power for next season and the Gunners have made an enquiry for VfL Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst. The Dutch international had an impressive season in the Bundesliga, scoring 20 goals in 42 appearances. According to Bild, Arsenal are ready to pay €35m for the forward.
With Pierre Emerick Aubameyang possibly leaving the club, Mikel Arteta wants to add a different type of striker to his squad. The Spanish boss has Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli as running strikers, but Arteta feels his side could use a big and strong target man. Weghorst could be a perfect type of player to fill that role.
The 27-year-old joined Wolfsburg two seasons ago from AZ Alkmaar and since joining he has developed into a more than decent goal scorer for the Germans. His strengths, however, are his physical presence and aerial abilities. All qualities that Arteta feels the Arsenal squad are missing. The Spaniard wants to sign a Olivier Giroud type of player and Weghorst meets those requirements.
