Atletico Madrid will not offer Edinson Cavani a contract this summer, reports AS. The Spanish giants have been long-linked with the Uruguayan striker and it was believed they would be signing Cavani on a free transfer once his contract at Paris Saint-Germain would expire on June 30th.
A deal with Cavani was agreed back in January before Atletico failed to negotiate terms with PSG. The deal fell through and it was expected the La Liga club would come back for him in July. However, AS now claims that Cavani has raised his demands and that has made Atletico decide not to make a new offer.
Instead, Atletico are now actively trying to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik. The Polish forward has one year left on his current deal at the Italians and it is claimed the he may leave Napoli for an €18m transfer fee. Meanwhile, Cavani could end up returning to the Serie A as AS Roma are showing interest in the 33-year-old.
