Germany’s transfer window will be open until October 5th

The summer transfer window in German will run from July 15 until October 5, the country’s FA has confirmed. The DFB (Deutscher Fußball-Bund) will also open the window on July 1st for a single day for deals which have already been completed, although players who are confirmed on that day will only be eligible from the start of the 2020/21 season.

The decision to close the German window on October 5th is in line with the recommendations of the UEFA. The European footballing government has set October 6 as the date that clubs will have to register their players for the 2020/2021 UEFA club competitions.

Other leagues are yet to confirm their new transfer deadlines, but it is expected that many countries will follow Germany’s example. The Premier League clubs are still talking about their summer window in the coming weeks. The football season in England will end on July 26, 11 days after the German transfer window has opened.
