Jose Mourinho has asked his club Tottenham Hotspur to initiate a move for Real Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez. The Spanish international is considered to be an ideal back-up player for Tottenham and according to Mundo Deportivo the English club is ready to make a move.
The now 28-year-old did play for Madrid when Mourinho was at the club between 2010 and 2013 but he played his games in Madrid’s second team before moving up to the first team in 2015. This season Vazquez has been struggling with injuries and he has not been in Zinedine Zidane’s plans.
Vazquez’ current deal will expire next summer and with talks about a new deal not to have started, it could be possible Madrid are ready to cash in. Mourinho hopes he can benefit from the uncertainty surrounding his future. The report claims Madrid are valuing Vazquez at €25m, however, Tottenham are hoping to spend €17m.
