Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has heaped praise on Yannick Carrasco, following the club’s 2-2 draw away at FC Barcelona. The Belgian winger played a strong game at the Nou Camp, constantly causing troubles on the right side of the pitch. The Barcelona defenders had their hands full on Carrasco, who returned to Atletico in January following a loan move from Chinese club Dalian Yifang.

After the game Simeone praised the winger. “Carrasco did a good job tonight. He has found it difficult since coming back, and he put in a huge effort here,” he told a post match interview with Marca. “He played a decisive role tonight. Against Bilbao he played well, but tonight was his most complete game.”

Carrasco was set to return to China after the season in Spain would have ended, but due to the postponement of the La Liga season due to the coronavirus pandemic, Carrasco will now stay in Madrid until the end of July. It is unclear if the former AS Monaco winger will also be available for Simeone in the remaining games of the Champions League, which will be played in August.
