FC Barcelona want to use Antoine Griezmann in a swap deal to sign Internazionale striker Lautaro Martinez, claims Sport. The France international has been struggling since arriving from Atletico Madrid for €125m at the Nou Camp last summer and it is believed Barcelona are already trying to offload him.
Much was expected from Griezmann when he joined Barcelona last summer. The French striker would form a deadly trio with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi up front. As the season in La Liga is approaching its end, Griezmann has not been at his best, scoring his last goal in February against Napoli in the Champions League.
The situation of Griezmann worsened earlier this week after Barcelona boss Quique Setien held him on the bench for over 90 minutes in their 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid. Even when Barcelona needed a win to keep on fighting for the title, Setien refused to bring on Griezmann during an earlier stage, only allowing him a couple of minutes on the pitch before the final whistle blew.
It is now believed that Barcelona have seen enough from Griezmann and are already considering to offload him. Inter would be a logic choice for Barcelona as the Spanish giants are actively trying to sign Martinez. With Inter holding on to their €125m asking price, Barcelona could be using Griezmann as either a full swap or as a makeweight to lower the fee on Martinez.
