Internazionale and Real Madrid have confirmed the transfer of Achraf Hakimi. It is reported that the Italian giants have paid Real a transfer fee potentially worth €45m. It is believed Madrid have a buy-back clause inserted into the five-year contract Hakimi has signed at Inter.
A statement on Real Madrid’s website read: “Real Madrid CF and Inter Milan have agreed to transfer Achraf Hakimi. The club wants to thank Achraf for all these years of dedication, professionalism and exemplary behavior since he came to our academy in 2006 and wishes him good luck in his new phase.”
Hakimi spent the past two seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he made 73 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing 17 assists. The Germans had high hopes to sign the right defender on a permanent deal, but weren’t able to match Inter’s offer. Instead, Dortmund signed Thomas Meunier on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, leaving Inter as the only interested club.
