Arsenal are very keen on landing Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid this summer. Diario AS has claimed that the Gunners have offered the Ghanaian to triple his wage packet at the Spanish club. Arsenal want to make haste with the transfer as Atletico is currently in talks with Partey to sign a new deal at the club.
The Ghanaian midfielder still is under contract until the summer of 2023 but Atletico want to reward the midfielder for his development over the past two seasons. Partey has developed into on of Atletico’s star players under Diego Simeone, making 40 appearances for the club this season across all competitions.
Atletico Madrid are also very keen on increasing Partey’s release clause. The Spanish club fear the current €50m release clause will not scare off other clubs and Arsenal could be willing to activate the clause without hesitation. Recent reports have claimed that Atletico want to double or even triple the release clause to €150m.
