Borussia Dortmund have won the battle for Birmingham City’s wonderkid Jude Bellingham. According to Sky Sports, the 17-year-old is on the verge of signing a five-year deal with the Bundesliga club. Dortmund have been courting the midfielder for the past two years and have beaten Manchester United in signing Bellingham.
The report states that whilst a deal has not been signed, Dortmund are very confident that they have reached an agreement with both Birmingham City and Bellingham. Although the midfielder has not signed a professional deal with the Championship club, it’s understood that they still receive a massive €25m transfer fee.
Bellingham will see out the remainder of the season with Birmingham instead of joining Dortmund immediately. The England U17 captain has decided to pick Dortmund for their long history of developing young talent and their policy of giving young players the chance to play for the first team. Erling Braut Haaland and Giovanni Reyna are recent examples.
