Chelsea have identified Everton defender Lucas Digne as a possible alternative for Leicester City‘s Ben Chilwell. The Blues are keen on adding a left-back to their squad next season and have marked Chilwell as their number one target. However, Leicester City could hold out for a large transfer fee, forcing Chelsea to identify alternatives.
ESPN reports that Leicester could ask €80 for Chilwell, making him too expensive for Chelsea this summer. While Everton would also ask a hefty fee, the Toffees would be accepting bids close to the €40m mark. This makes the 27-year-old former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain defender an interesting option.
Meanwhile, Everton could be open to sell Digne this summer after signing 19-year-old Niels Nkounkou from Olympique Marseille. The left defender signed for Everton on a free transfer after his contract in France expired earlier this week. Nkounkou has signed a three-year deal at Everton, who now already have a possible replacement in their squad.
