Quique Setien will be sacked by FC Barcelona once the season is over. Mundo Deportivo reports on Friday that the Spanish giants have already decided that the former Real Betis boss will not be granted the chance to manage the club next season. It is believed that Barcelona has already made contact with Setien’s successor.
The Spanish newspaper expects that club legend Xavi is ready to take over next season. The former midfielder was quoted last week that he is keen on returning to the Nou Camp as their manager and this has lead to Barcelona deciding against Setien and offering Xavi the chance to fulfill his dream next season.
After Barcelona sacked Ernesto Valverde in January, Xavi has also been in the running of taking over. Then, however, the 2010 World Champion decided he wasn’t ready to make the jump from his club in Qatar. Now, only several months later, Xavi would be ready to jump in during the summer break. That would mean Setien would be sacked after only six months in charge.
