Internazionale have opened talks with Chelsea over a deal for Italian left-back Emerson Palmieri, reports Sky Sports. The 25-year-old has not convinced manager Frank Lampard enough to grant him regular playing time at Stamford Bridge and The Blues are open in selling the former AS Roma man, who joined Chelsea in January 2018.
Emerson has made 19 appearances for Chelsea this season but has featured just once since the restart of English football, playing in the FA Cup Quarter final win over Leicester City. Sky Sports report that the Brazilian born Palmieri is now set for a return to the Italian Serie A.
Internazionale are keen on strengthening the left side of their defense after already wrapping up a deal for Real Madrid’s Achraf Hakimi for around €40m. Chelsea hope to sell Palmieri in order to generate the funds needed to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City or Lucas Digne for Everton, both left full-backs.
