Liverpool are getting closer in signing Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer. Spanish outlet Sport reports that the player has already been in talks with the Premier League champions after Bayern has given the Reds permission to negotiate terms. The report claims that the two clubs will now have to agree on a transfer fee.
It is believed that Bayern are holding out for a fee between €35m and €50m, while Liverpool are considering a starting bid of €25m. The report also claims that Liverpool do not want to pay the entire fee upfront and they are currently discussing alternative ways of payment with the German giants.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is very keen on adding the playmaker to his midfielder to add a new dimension to his midfield. The German is a great admirer of both Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum, but both are workhorses and not playmaking midfielders. Thiago is considered to be a ‘pass and move’ type of player and could be exactly what Liverpool needs.
