German defender Niklas Sule could be making his return for Bayern Munich after spending nine months on the sidelined with a serious injury to his knee. The German international has been added to the squad for Saturday’s DFB Pokal Final against Bayer Leverkusen in Berlin.
Bayern coach Hansi Flick revealed on Friday that the central defender is ready to make a full return to football. “Niklas will take part in the final training session and will then possibly be in the squad,” Flick said. “He looks to be in good shape.”
Having won their eighth consecutive title in the Bundesliga this season, Bayern are hoping to express their dominance by winning their first German double since 2016. Bayern will be chasing their 20th triumph in the cup, while Leverkusen are looking for the second cup win after they won it in 1993. Leverkusen lost their last two cup finals in 2002 and 2009.
