Schalke’s Weston McKennie sets sight on move to the Premier League

Weston McKennie has told his club Schalke 04 he wants to leave the club to complete a move to the Premier League, claims Bild. The American midfielder has attracted the interest from both Everton and Newcastle United and according to the German outlet both clubs are preparing an offer of the 21-year-old.

McKennie is a versatile player, being able to play on the midfield or as a central defender. He is considered a first team player at Schalke and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to cash in this summer. But since Schalke has been experiencing financial troubles due to the coronacrisis, it appears that die Köningsblauen are open to receive bids.

21-year-old McKennie signed for Schalke in 2016 as an academy player from FC Dallas. After spending a year with the U19 at the German club. the midfielder made his debut for the first team. Since then he has made 91 appearances for the club. He has also been capped 19 times by the United States.
