FC Barcelona have opened talks with Manchester City to sign their former youth player Eric Garcia. Diario Sport reports that the Spanish giants have already contacted City to talk about the transfer conditions of the central defender, who left Barcelona to join Man City several seasons ago.
It is claimed that Barcelona are ‘very confident’ on a deal for the defender this summer, but will not be pushed into a bidding war with City. Garcia’s contract will expire next season and it is believed that Barcelona will be happy to wait a season and then sign the defender on a free transfer once his contract has expired.
García spent seasons in Barça’s youth academy La Masía, before joining Manchester City in 2017 for a mere €1.7m. The young defender is highly admired and many believe that he can be the true heir to the Barcelona legend Gerard Piqué. At this moment it is unclear how Barcelona value the defender and it is also unclear how much City want for Garcia.
